Pogo 2 : Genoa | A service dedicated to technical and economical evolutions in sailmaiking. Since already 12 years, I am designing for 20 sail lofts, proving the cogency of my analysis : Rapid development of the "all digital" and tremendous networks growth (Internet, Compuserve, etc.) allowing efficient data transfers, permit me to act as an independant sail designer for many sail lofts. Remoteness has vanished and we are all now relying on swifteness, quality and skill of the sail designer. Efficiency and quality of the laser cutting companies in France (RCX, Soromap, Procup). Important sailcloth inventories, supported by the main manufacturers, made available to sail lofts through cutting companies. High precision CAD software from Cerealog and fluid plotter interfacing (Lectra.fli, Lectra.for, Axiome, Carlson.out and dxf).

| 5 good reasons to team up with an independent sail designer | |
A large majority of the lofts working with me since 12 years have seen their financial and race results evolve favourably, thanks to their business dynamism as well as to the bonus credit gained by teaming up (see Results). New markets, previously reserved to large corporate sailmakers, were opened to them (cruising, racing, old riggers). Some of them, freed from head offices tutelage, had built competitive sails and improved their financial results going from dealership status to manufacturer. The sailing scene remains rough and often unforseeable : Managing the work force between high and low season is never easy. Using my service is like having a permanent and dedicated designer and a plotter operator working full time, allowing the manager to concentrate on other tasks (marketing, business administration...). Working with a sail designer and a cutting company avoid costly investments in the often under used Cad/Cam tooling. Sailcloth inventory is now supported by the laser cutting companies and the sailmaker can order its goods by the meter. In sail design, experience matters : The broader the activity range is, the better the capacity to deal with peculiar requests...
My considerably enlarged sail database permits me to handle with success various programmes ranging from Maxi's (mono or multihulls) to sport's cats (F18 or Tornado), from One Designs to IRC and all cruising sails (fully battened mainsails, roller furling genoas, asymetrical chutes).
